8Based on the study of the "Next Generation Agriculture-Indus-try Collaboration Center (tentative name) concept" set forth in the 3rd Medium-Term Plan, the "Agri-Innovation Education and Research Center" was established on April 1, Reiwa 3 at the Ogata Campus. The Center was reorganized as a universi-ty-wide organization by reorganizing the Field Education and Research Center, which is a facility attached to the Faculty of Bioresource Sciences. While Akita Prefecture's agriculture is facing serious issues such as labor shortages and successors, we will contribute to the sustainable development of Akita Prefecture as a base for education and research by mobilizing all of the knowledge of Akita Prefectural University in the fields of agriculture and science and engineering, while promoting agriculture and related industries such as manufacturing, information, and communication industries from the perspective of the spread of "smart agriculture."With a total area of 190 ha, it is about 40 times the construc-tion area of Tokyo Dome. Among them, the field area is 164 ha, which is the largest among the farms attached to the university in Japan. In addition to paddy rice, field crops such as soybeans and wheat, horticultural crops such as fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers, and forage crops such as grass and corn are cultivated, and beef cattle are also raised. The center is also equipped with high-speed communication networks such as local 5G, carrier 5G, and wireless LAN access points to major facilities, and conducts exercises and practical training, graduation research, and development and demon-stration of smart agriculture models optimized for the region in large-scale fields of agricultural production.Lectures, experiments, practical training, etc. for undergradu-ate and graduate students, "SMERAgricultural Instructor Training Program"Implementation and support of on-campus research, joint research, commissioned research, etc.Promotion of joint research and dissemination of technolo-gies through newly established consortium【Research Case】● Research to create an Akita version of the smart agricul ture model (Regional Revitalization Promotion Subsidy (Society 5.0 type), Akita version of Smart Agriculture Model Creation Project Subsidy)● Technical research for promoting field rotation in Akita Prefecture● Empirical study of waterlogging and direct seeding cultiva tion of dry fields● Research on horticultural use and production of Strawber ries● Research on management technology and meat quality improvement of grazing shorthorn cattle, etc.Hands-on learning sessions and visiting lectures for high school students in the prefecture Acceptance of visits from the general public and school officials such as children and holding of Center Open DayFacilities・Overview of equipment●Center Research and Administration Building ●Center Administration Building ●Large Plot Farm ●Research small-plot paddy field ●Comput-er-controlled horticultural greenhouse ●Environmentally controlled pipe house ●Artificial weather room ●Cowshed ●Work building ●Machine hangar ●Maintenance building ●Grain drying adjustment equipment ●Cold storage ●Field 164ha (paddy field 25ha, field 45ha, orchard 6ha, pasture etc. 88ha) ●Smart agricultural machinery (robot tractors, rice transplanters, autonomous driving combines, agricultural drones) ●Large machines such as tractors and loaders (20 units) ●Agricultural machinery (approx. 70 units)●Director: Hiroho FukudaTechnical Exhibitions and Community ContributionsResearch Center for Smart Agriculture The largest farm in JapanEducationResearchAgri-InnovationEducation and Research Center
