10The development of cutting-edge technologies for creative "manufacturing" will ultimately aim to lead happy lives for people. Regardless of their fields, students who are future scientists and professional engineers who will contribute to the advancement of technology need to cultivate and main-tain a broad interest in people and society from now on, along with specialized research for future career develop-ment. At Akita Prefectural University, students use not only the classes of full-time faculty members but also the classes of the Open University of Japan to foster a global perspec-tive and the ability to broadly think about people and social life from multiple perspectives. At our university, we emphasize practical English and provide education to support the acquisition of English that can be used in the real world as a member of society, as a research-er, or as an engineer. Immediately after enrollment, students become accustomed to listening with CALL, and then according to their needs, courses for speaking, reading, and writing, as well as courses for TOEIC exams, are also offered. In addition, the TOEIC Bridge test is conducted twice a year for new students to objectively measure their English profi-ciency, and the TOEIC IP test is administered for all students twice a year.educationobjectiveLiberal Arts Education ●Director: Yoshinobu UchiyamaThe goalCultivating rich sensitivity and keen analytical skillsThe goalPractical English proficiency and information processing skillsHumanities & Social SciencesHealth and Physical Education, Information Science, Mathematics, Teacher Training CourseIn the health and physical education subjects, we aim to cultivate the basic theories and skills of lifelong health education and sports practice.
