Although brief, that experience impressed me with how globalized and diversified the school is. More importantly, it respects everyone’s interests by encouraging students to dabble in the field and explore every corner of the world. Thanks to this program, I also obtained an opportunity to work with the World Bank.The school is not only a pioneer in academia, but also offers room to engage with real-world dynamics. My flourishing interest in international development spurred me to return to GSICS as a Ph.D. student. Distinctive FeaturesThis program was established in 1999 in order to enable international students to continue their studies using English and to acquire a Doctoral Degree. Proficiency in Japanese is not generally considered in the selection process, although a high proficiency in Japanese may be required for some applicants, depending on their research topic.
