Kobe University traces its origins to Kobe Higher Commercial School, established in 1902 as Japan’s second national commercial college. Distinct from Tokyo Higher Commercial School (now Hitotsubashi University), Kobe Higher Commercial School fostered a unique academic tradition that emphasized the integration of theory and practice.
