Its goal is to consider Japanese culturecomprehensively and systematically, learn the spirit and culture of ancient and modern Japanesepeople, and use this knowledge as guiding principles for our own way of life and creation. From the second year, students deepen their studies by choosing one of the three majors: Japanese Literature, Japanese Language, or Japanese Oral Traditions.With a focus on ancient Chinese literature, students in this department study a wide range of fields with the goal of nurturing a broad global perspective and rich humanity. From the second year, students choose one of the following four programs: Chinese Literature, Chinese Language Education, Chinese Folk Culture, and General Chinese Humanities.The Faculty of Letters is a faculty in which students can study Japanese language, culture, and history, as well as the languages, culture, philosophy, and ideas of various foreign countries in depth.
