Ph.D. in Politics and International Relations.教授カポ・ゴKa Po NgStudents are expected to choose a topic about economic development in developing countries (particularly long-term economic changes) for their Master's theses. The theses should combine both the theoretical and empirical components, preferably showing policy implications. I will advise students through the process of thesis writing systematically, with an emphasis on establishing a theoretical framework, clarifying research questions, collecting statistical data, and conducting quantitative analysis.Graduate students are expected to perform academic presentations as well as do academic writing. One of the most important skills for such presentations and writing is to be able to express one's thoughts precisely in an easy-to-understand form. In this course, students will develop such skills through repetition of activities and learn practical Japanese expression.My specialization is regional economics, with a special focus on China. My research interest is how local cities survive and why there are growing and declining areas under rapid technological innovation and globalization. I would like to work with students who are interested in regional economic development, policy, industry, corporations, and international cooperation, etc. beyond country borders. I am interested in various regional economies, ranging from Niigata and other coastal areas of the Sea of Japan to the Russian Far East, the northeastern and western parts of China, and South America. Students who are interested in the Chinese economy in general are also welcomed.My fields are International Relations theory, international security and China’s security policy. I will help students explore their research interests and work out feasible projects. With emphasis on integrating theory with practice, I will ensure students grasp the conceptual tools and apply them to analyse research findings before reaching any conclusions.宮﨑 七湖途上国の経済発展、とりわけ長期的な経済変動に関わる諸課題から、修士論文にふさわしい具体的なテーマを選択してもらい、研究指導を行います。理論と実証を統合して、さらに政策的インプリケーションが得られる分析テーマを想定しています。設定されたテーマに即して、先行研究のレビューから修士論文完成までの一連の作業を体系的に指導します。特に、理論的分析枠組みの構築、リサーチクエスチョンの具体化、統計データの収集と処理、計量分析の実行などに力点を置きます。大学院では学術的なプレゼンテーションを行うことと、学術的な文章を書くことが求められます。このようなプレゼンテーションや文章では、言いたいことを聞き手や読み手に正確に、そして、わかりやすく伝えることが最も重要なことです。「日本語プレゼンテーション」「日本語アカデミックライティング」では、このために必要な日本語の表現を学び、繰り返し練習を行います。私の専門は地域経済と中国経済です。急激な技術革新とグローバル化の中で、地方はどのようにサバイバルをし、どうして成長地域と衰退地域があるかについて研究しています。例えば新潟をはじめとする日本海沿岸地域、ロシア極東、アメリカ南部、中国の東北部・西部等、国に囚われず地域の経済・政策・産業・企業・国際連携などに興味を持つ学生と一緒に研究を行いたいと考えています。また、中国経済全般に関心があるので、中国経済を研究したい学生も歓迎します。私の専門領域は、国際関係理論、国際安全保障および中国の安全保障政策です。学生が研究関心を深め、実行可能なプロジェクトを遂行できるよう指導を行います。また、学生が分析のツールをしっかりと身につけ、そのツールを研究に応用できるよう、理論と実践との融合に力点を置きます。9教員紹介 ［国際地域学専攻］Faculty
