I am now an Associate Professor in the Faculty of International Economic Studies, University of Niigata Prefecture.准教授This is a course designed for postgraduate students aiming to improve their skills at giving academic presentations. The course covers both poster session and Powerpoint presentations and focuses on the structure of effective presentations as well as the language skills to present in a confident and detailed manner.My research interests lie in how domestic politics exert influence on international relations. I supervise topics related to the factors that influence East Asian international relations, such as national identity, party politics, and democratic/authoritarian systems. Students will be able to critically review previous literature, set up clear research questions, and apply mixed methods in their studies.In this course, students will learn how to write essays, do research, synthesize ideas, and avoid plagiarism by using citations and references. Students will also learn how to identify and correct common writing errors in their own and others’ work.Research activities I could supervise will include public choice theories and quality of life studies using voting results and public opinion survey data or other related data. Although I respect students’ research interests, I would recommend regression analysis. In order for students to complete dissertations based on empirical evidence, I advise systematically on setting up basic and working hypotheses, literature review and data collection, data analysis, and hypothesis testing.授業では大学院生が英語による学術的なプレゼンテーションを行うための技術の向上を目指します。ポスターやパワーポイントを用いた発表の方法を学ぶとともに、精緻かつ堂々とした発表を行うためのスキルや効果的なプレゼンテーションの組み立て方などに焦点を当てます。国際関係研究の中でよくブラックボックスのような存在として扱われた国内政治が、どのように国際関係に影響を与えるのかという視点から研究を行います。具体的には、東アジア諸国を研究対象とし、国民のアイデンティティー、政党政治、民主主義または権威主義などのような、東アジア国際関係に影響を与える諸要素について、研究指導を行います。問題意識をもって複合的な分析アプローチを研究に応用できるよう、学生の皆さんを支援したいと考えています。英語で学術論文を作成するときに必要な書式や文体、レトリックなどについて実践的に教授します。学生は、文献の読み方、データの集め方、APAスタイルの引用の仕方を学びます。学術的な論文を書くのに必要なアカデミックスキルや言語表現に関わるスキルを中心に、明確な構成、論旨の提示、説得的なデータの提示、視角情報の利用、文献の批判的提示と関連付け、結論と課題の提示などを意識して書くことを学びます。投票率などを用いた公共選択論に関する研究や世論調査データを用いた生活の質に関する研究などの分野から、学生の関心に基づいて研究指導を行います。その際、回帰分析を用いた実証的な研究を行うことを学生に推奨します。指導のあり方としては、作業仮説と基本仮説の関係から文献収集やデータ収集、データ分析、仮説検定などを含み、実証的な論文を作成できるようになるための体系的な指導をします。7教員紹介 ［国際地域学専攻］Faculty
