10School of International Studiesin TaiwanThe issues facing us in the 21st century are becoming extremely complex due to the rapid rise of globalization. Multiculturalism and globalization are progressing at a rapid rate and involve the global deployment of capital and large labor forces moving outside of country boundaries. Under these societal conditions,unprecedented problems such as widening disparities, environmental destruction, the immigration and refugee crises, and ethnic and cultural conflicts are happening all over the world. Furthermore, with more and more businesses moving into overseas markets, the need is greater than ever before for corporate activities that create and implement globally-minded strategies that fit the circumstances of each region. These changes have led to a growing call within society to raise global, glocal, 21st century people who have the necessary knowledge, concern, ambition, and initiative to make multiculturalism a reality.To meet these demands, as well as to succeed in international fields in regions all over the world, the Department of International Studies will equip students with specialized knowledge and skills relating to multiculturalism, in addition to fostering a willingness to take on challenges, instilling them with initiative, and giving them the strength to act globally.
