AN INTRODUCTION TO Utsunomiya University
18/20

17Student VoiceI study at Utsunomiya University as an undergraduate student. This university holds 5 schools and 4 graduate schools and all schools have international students, mostly in my school. I can mingle with many international students with various nationalities and backgrounds. Sometimes living alone in Japan far from home country is difficult and uneasy, but I have never faced a serious trouble thanks to the staffs of Center for International Exchange. They are very supportive and actually I asked their help several times. Of course I enjoy studying here. I take not only classes which are related to my major, but also Japanese language classes for international students. My tutor, a Japanese student who supports study and life one-on-one, makes my study more effective and fun. If you want to study in Japan, I recommend youUtsunomiya University. I believe the experiences at Utsunomiya University make a bridge which helps you to become a global leader.Annual EventsAcademic Year: From April 1 to March 31First semester (Spring): From April 1 to September 30 (including summer break)Second semester (Fall): From October 1 to March 31 (including winter & spring break)In addition to above, international students are invited to a lot of fun events! Sharif Hossain, from Bangladesh. I amimmensely grateful to be selected by the Japanese government as a recipient of the MEXT scholarship for doctoral studies at Utsunomiya university in 2016. I am currently involved in research on "Synthesis andreactions of novel helical molecules through optical resolution of helical quinone derivatives" in a very well-equipped laboratory with all the moderninstrumental facilities. I really acknowledge the incredibly cooperative supportI get from everyone at Utsunomiya university every time I am in need, especially the staff members at the International Center. UU's unique learning environment is a phenomenal international atmosphere and certainly helpful in promoting my future goals. UU has students from all over the world. I have met many friends and learnt so much. Slowly but surely, I have come to fall in love with this place. Probably you will never feel mystified and alone here. You will enshrine your student life at UU forever. Besides excellent career opportunities, you can enjoy Japanese culture as well as different and beautiful scenes of every season. These are some of the reasons why I wouldrecommend studying at UU.A sophomore in the Faculty ofInternational Studies, Department of International StudiesLee JunghyunKoreaA second year in the doctoral coursestudent in the Graduate School ofEngineering, Department ofInnovation Systems EngineeringMd.
